Have you ever made a stand and started selling something, only to have your neighbors walk right by? That’s because having a great product isn’t enough. You need to tell people about it in a way that makes them thirsty! That is marketing.

So in simple words, marketing is telling people about something you offer be it a “product or service”, to convince them it’s valuable and worth buying or using.

But how exactly does marketing work? Here are some ways:

  • Catchy Communication: Imagine a lemonade stand with a sign that says “Lemonade.” Now imagine one that’s well-designed, saying “Cool, refreshing lemonade! Quench your thirst today!” Marketing uses creative slogans, eye-catching visuals, and clear messages to grab attention and get people interested.
  • Reaching the Right Audience: Not everyone loves lemonade. You wouldn’t waste your time selling it on a cold winter day, would you? Marketing involves understanding who would benefit most from your product and reaching them through the channels they use, whether it’s social media, newspapers, or flyers.
  • Building Trust and Value: People are more likely to buy from someone they trust. Marketing builds trust by showcasing the benefits of your product, highlighting its quality, and maybe even offering a free sample, like a taste test at your lemonade stand!
  • Making the Sale: The ultimate goal of marketing is to turn interest into action. This might involve offering discounts, creating a sense of urgency, or simply making it easy for people to buy, like having a clear call to action on your lemonade stand sign that says “50 Naira only!”

Using these tools, Marketing helps businesses turn strangers into happy customers who keep coming back for more!
